End the Holidays Weight Gain!

weightI recently become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist to help people keep a healthy weight and avoid chronic diseases. I Combine this knowledge with Hypnosis to help people feel amazing without dieting and feeling hungry! Diets only tell your metabolism to slow down in response the restriction of calories, it’s a survival mechanism that helped our ancestors in times of famine. Basically your body is gonna hold on to your fat reserves when you are hungry! But if you eat healthy and do physical activities you body will naturally lose the extra weight.

During winter time it becomes more difficult to avoid gaining weight for two reasons: extra food available and winter weather. So what can you do?

1.- You have control over what you eat at home, so don’t fall prey to Christmas sweets and snacks on sale! make a shopping list and stick to it. And NEVER EVER shop while hungry.

2.- Continue to eat lots of fresh produce like apples, grapes, berries, greens like kale and spinach, root vegetables, legumes and grains like beans, lentils, quinoa, amaranth, millet, etc.

3.- If you are going to a party stick to the healthy options, you can inquire ahead what the menu will be like and if there aren’t many healthy options try to eat a light healthy meal at home.

4.- Sitting is the new Smoking! Keep moving, get up to get some tea, drink lots of water and get up to go the washroom more often.

5.- Go for a walk whenever the weather is nice,  and if not, try mall walking or join a class like zumba, dancing, yoga, try winter sports since you burn more calories in the cold!

6.- Take a multivitamin and vitamin D, get a light therapy box if you get  cravings for carbohydrates and feel tired. Seasonal Affective Disorder is no joke and when you feel depressed you are more likely to overeat.
